In most schools and offices, social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are blocked. This is necessary to ensure that the students and office employees do not waste their time.
This is really annoying if you are on the other side of the table, that is, if you are a student or if you are working in an organization where all the interesting website are banned. Here are some tips you can use to access blocked websites,
1. Use proxies to access blocked websites.
2. You can use the IP address of a website instead of its web URL to access it. This trick will work if the method to block the social networking websites uses URL address filtering.
URL address filtering means that all the site that must be blocked are stored in the as a list URLs, so typing the IP address of a site instead of its URL will work. To use this trick, you must first find out the IP address of the website. There are many ways to do this. Here’s one of them,
Go to Start > Run, type cmd and press enter. Enter the command,
ping sitename.com
The output of this command will be a lot of things but we are interested only in the IP address of the website.
Just grab the IP address and paste it in the browser’s address bar to access the blocked website.
3. You can also use VPN services to access blocked websites. Using a VPN is great if you want to open a website that is blocked by geographical filtering of IP.
If you know about any other way to access blocked websites, then do share it with us using the comments form below.
Tried it in Google Chrome. Does this only work with Firefox?
Nevermind. When pinging the address, you MUST include “www”, ie: http://www.google.com instead of just google.com
A different IP address with each one. Why is that? E-mail me at murtkeps@gmail.com.
The reason is load balancing on the servers. Google uses many servers, and each time you visit Google.com your query is handled by the server with some free bandwidth. Thus different IP each time.
great work buddy keep the good work going …. i really appreciate your knowledge…very impressive i think u should continue doing more work and research on this… cheers
This “trick” will never work on an enterprise software. These softwares do not block domain names but block sites with set of keywords. The site with those keywords is blocked automatically. Try reading about Websense.
Yes, that’s right. The trick will work only on sites that involve URL Filtering. However, you can easily bypass websense using web based proxies. A good list is here,

or you can use HTTP Tunneling.
Thanks for feedback.
